HAIR LOSS
2022
HAIR LOSS contemplates the biological impacts of the tense rhythms of life in post-pandemic Chinese metropolises. In societies filled with competition and pressure, hair loss seems to have become a 'trend,' taking a different perspective, suggesting that individuals seem to be using 'hair loss' as a way to exchange for survival resources.
The artwork employs microphones in the exhibition space to detect ambient noise levels and audience voices. Through Max and sensors, the teeth of a "comb" on display are set in motion, generating new sounds in collaboration with the ambient environment. These sounds are then disseminated through suspended speakers. All sound and comb movements adapt according to the surrounding environment, mirroring the relationship between our environment and ourselves.
